Role Summary:

The AVP Financial Controllership position is a dynamic role that combines day-to-day accounting management with strategic finance transformation. The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical, technical, and communication skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include financial reporting, process enhancement, and system implementation, particularly as we embark on a new ERP system. The position requires expertise in accounting principles, controls, leadership abilities, and effective stakeholder communication. You’ll drive efficiencies through automation and new reporting capabilities, partnering with technology and operations teams. What You’ll Do:

Support and manage day-to-day accounting functions including month-end close, financial reporting and analysis, and preparation of financial statements
Oversee full cycle Accounts Payable function including vendor set up, disbursements, payment requests, and month end close.
Coordinate the activities of external auditors, prepare documentation, respond to inquiries and manage annual audits.
Support all month-end close activities in accordance with US GAAP within the required deadlines, including analyzing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing journal entries, accruals, etc.
Develop the monthly balance sheet and income statement flux analysis and quarterly financial reporting package report.
Optimize process for expense reimbursements (using Concur) and assure information is correctly reflected in the general ledger.
Document, implement and standardize procedures to improve efficiency of accounting operations processes for a best-in-class organization.
Actively participate in the configuration and implementation of a new ERP system, collaborating with cross-functional teams to map existing business processes to the new ERP system.
Develop and maintain a documented system of internal controls to ensure financial records are accurate and reliable and work with broader finance team to adapt and improve controls in response to changing conditions.
Assist with the preparation of other ad hoc financial reports on an as-needed basis (financial schedules, monthly/quarterly reporting packages for senior management, other ad hoc financial analysis).

Skills and Experience:

BA/BS in Accounting, professional certification (CPA or equivalent) preferred.
7+ years’ experience in public and private accounting including prior experience in the financial services industry (experience with residential / commercial lending preferred).
Relevant accounts payable experience, with a deep understanding of AP processes and systems.
Experience with General Ledger bookings and oversight of monthly close processes including balance sheet reconciliation/substantiation, journal entries, and variance analysis.
Established credibility as a trusted advisor to business partners and senior leadership.
Experience setting strategy for process improvement initiatives along with developing procedures for implementation.
Strong technology and financial systems skills, including the ability to use or learn new tools to help drive efficiency and automation in previously manual processes.
Advanced financial project management skills.
Experience with ERP integrations a plus

This is a full-time, hybrid role where you will work from the Manhattan office two – three days a week. The salary range is $110,000 – $130,000 dependent on experience.
